Fairview Lakes earns national honors

On June 21 in Orlando, Fla., Fairview Lakes Medical Center, Wyoming, earned top national honors for providing quality care in the areas of acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) and heart failure. Premier Inc, a national healthcare alliance that helps health systems and hospitals monitor quality of care, presented the awards.
This is the second time that Fairview Lakes has been recognized by Premier.
ìThe Premier Award for Quality honors clinical excellence in both quality of clinical care and operational efficiency,î said Dan Anderson, president of Fairview Lakes Health Services. ìThe award defines its winners as industry leaders that deliver outstanding patient care while reducing the cost of health care through effective use of resources.î
ìThe award to Fairview Lakes is especially significant,î said Deb Stumm, vice president of quality for Fairview Lakes, ìbecause not only were we one of only seven facilities across the nation to receive awards in more than one of the categories Premier measures, but we have also proven that our care of heart patients is consistently high quality by maintaining this distinguished level of care for more than two years.î
ìPatients who come to us with life-threatening heart conditions can be assured that from the moment they enter our facility they are receiving nationally recognized ëbest practiceí care - the kind of care that saves lives,î said Anderson. ìI am very proud of the teamwork and commitment of our staff and physicians as they help us achieve our goal of ëleading community health care to the highest standards.íî
Fairview Lakes was selected from an eligible pool of 400 health care facilities that submitted data to Premierís Perspective ô clinical comparative database, the largest such database in the nation, between Oct. 2004 and Sept. 2005. These centers were evaluated for their clinical quality outcomes, clinical processes and resource utilization, according to Stephanie Alexander, senior vice president and general manager at Premier.
Also honored this yearİby Premier in the areas of heart attack and heart failure was Fairview Northland Hospital, Princeton.İİOnly three Minnesota hospitals received Premier Awards.
