ëTwins Platooní author to sign his book July 22
Wyoming area insurance salesman Christy Sauro has become quite the celebrity the past four months while promoting his hardcover book, ìThe Twins Platoon, An Epic Story of Young Marines at War in Vietnam.î
The 288-page book was released March 15 of this year by Zenith Books with a printing of 5,500 books. A second printing has just begun and Sauro is ecstatic about it. ìThe response has been outstanding and much better than anyone could have hoped for,î Sauro said. Nearly 40 years ago, a group of young men were sworn into the Marine Corps at a Minnesota Twins game. The date was June 28, 1967.
On Sunday, July 2, Sauro was among approximately 30 members of the original 150 who were honored by the Minnesota Twins at the Metrodome in a pre-game ceremony before a meeting with the Milwaukee Brewers. Sauro threw out the ceremonial first pitch which was caught by Twins manager Ron Gardenhire.
Sauro will be signing his book at a special event planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at the Barnes & Noble Book Store, 710 County Road 10 NE, Blaine.
