Shoreview residents Connie and Dennis Tellefson are hoping pizza is the answer to a new direction in life. After having spent the last 20-plus years working at various jobs, their recently opened Pizza Man in Stacy is their chance to own a business. They are making the most of it.

They chose Stacy specifically because they wanted to start their business in a smaller area. But so far it has felt like anything but a small town.

ìOur first weekend was a good learning experience,î said Dennis last Thursday. ìWe were so busy and the crew had never worked together,î he added, describing how overwhelmed the shop was with business as soon as it opened its doors.

By the end of that first week though, Pizza Man in Stacy had found its groove. ìThe people around here were very understanding,î said Dennis.

Itís not hard to figure out why business has been so good. Stacy does not have another pizza delivery business in town. Now, with Pizza Man, residents have a full menu of items for delivery.

Of course there is a pizza for all tastes, from a simple cheese pizza to a ìjunkî pizza with everything on it. Aside from the more common toppings, Pizza Man also offers shrimp, anchovies, sauerkraut, and jalapenos. Pizzaís range in size from a 10-inch to a 16-inch pie.

Take your pick of toppings and have them cooked to perfection on a thin or thick crust, made right in the store. Sauces are also mixed in the store, using the time-tested Pizza Man recipe.

Specialty items include buffalo chicken; chicken breasts seasoned with garlic and buffalo sauce and topped with cheddar and mozzarella, served with a choice of dressing. Or, try the taco pizza, Italian cheese bread, or wings.

Cold pop is available in both 20 oz. and two liter bottles.

With so many menu items and a high demand in the area, the Tellefsonís are taking it slow. ìWe are still learning,î said Dennis.

For now, delivery service encompasses a roughly five-mile area around the store, located at 30962 Fenway Ave. According to Connie that area will likely be expanded as a better idea is gained for the amount of business the store will enjoy.

For now, the Tellefsonís are just happy to be in business and are already reaching out to the community. Pizza Man donated 20 pizzas to the Bella Notte formal dance at Family Pathways not too long ago.

Those with a hankering for pizza can call Pizza Man at (651) 462-2433. Hours are Mon.-Wed., 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thurs.-Sat., 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Sun., 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
