Posted: 7/5/06
The Initiative Foundation, in partnership with the League of Minnesota Cities and the Gordon Rosenmeier Center for State and Local Government, will host a ěRunning for Public Officeî workshop Tuesday, July 25, at its office in Little Falls. Independent candidates as well as those from all political parties and all levels of office are invited to attend this nonpartisan event.
The workshop will offer presentations and panel discussions on grassroots campaigning, legal reporting, civility, public speaking, media relations and servant leadership. Former U.S. Congressman and state legislator, Rick Nolan, will be the keynote speaker. Other presenters include Minnesota State Rep. Larry Haws, presidential campaign manager Sue Hilgart, and editors from the Brainerd Dispatch and St. Cloud Times.
ěCivility and servant leadership are two qualities that we believe are essential,î said Karl Samp, Initiative Foundation vice president for community
initiatives. ěThis workshop is intended to de-mystify the process and prepare those who want to serve our communities through an elected office.î
The workshop fee is $35, and registrations are due Friday, July 21. For more information, contact Rachel Durfee at 1-877-632-9255 or visit www.ifound.org to download a workshop brochure.
