Posted: 6/14/06
For the first time in its five-year history, Fairview Lakes Health Servicesí Moms in Motion aerobic exercise class will be available from noon-1 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, June 21-Aug. 2. Moms in Motion is a supervised, low-impact aerobic exercise class for women who are pregnant or have recently had a child. Sessions are offered twice a week for six weeks at Fairview Chisago Lakes Clinic on Stinson Ave., just off Highway 8 in Chisago City.
With their doctors approval, women who feel up to it can exercise right up to the time of delivery. Women who deliver during the six-week session will be credited for the classes missed, which can be made up as soon as their doctors approves returning to the program after delivery. Moms who have recently delivered are welcome to bring new babies with them to class until the babies learn to crawl.
The program is designed to:
ïImprove physical condition
ïDecrease weight gain
ïPromote weight loss after delivery
ïPrepare expectant mothers for the work of delivery.
ïIncrease energy level of class participants.
Cost for 12 supervised exercise sessions is only $50 or about $4 per class. Prior to the first session, participants are asked to sign a consent form and obtain a signed physician approval. To register and obtain the necessary forms, call Fairview Lakes Rehabilitation at (651) 257-8469.
