Marty ends RCís drought from state

Junior Jeremy Marty qualified for the state track meet in the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles at the section meet June 3 at Hamline University.
In the 110 his time was 16.78. Senior Jordan Kruse of Pine City was only a fraction of second behind Marty and finished third with a time of 16.87. In the 300 hurdles it could have been any ones race, but Marty was able to prevail. Fourth athletes finished within one second of each other. Marty finished second with a time of 42.43. In first place was Kruse with a time of 42.17.
Head coach of the Tigers Mike Vaughan said it was the first time in 12 years a Rush City boys track member has made it to state.
ìItís very exciting,î Vaughan said.
The section meet marked the end of the season for Rush City Track. Vaughan said he was happy with how the season went.
ìThe season was a success,î he said.
Rush City finished ninth out of 25 teams with a score of 48 points.
Girls track
The girls track team ended their season at the section meet June 3. The girls failed to qualify anyone to state this season. The girls finished in 21 place with 11 points.
