St. Anthony eliminates Tigers

Rush City lost its final game of the season 2-1 May 30 against St. Anthony Village.
The Tigers played hard and lost by a respectable one run. Rush City allowed two runs. St. Anthony scored double digits eight times this year.
The Huskies scored one run in the first inning when Chad Peterson knocked in senior lead off batter Dan Halstensgard. Rush Cityís lone run came off a solo home run in the fourth off the bat of Josh Ehrreich. St. Anthony countered with a run in the same inning to go ahead by one run.
Jake Bosman took the mound for the Tigers. Schlagel said Bosman had a ìgreat pitching performance.î
Bosman pitched six innings giving up two runs, five hits, two walks and two strike outs in the loss.
ì[He] pitched an excellent baseball game against a quality opponent,î head coach Bob Schlagel said.
The Huskies had a record of 19-3. Their two losses were against Dassel-Cokato and New Richland-H-E-G.
Schlagel said they were a tough team and one of the best in the metro area.
ìSt. Anthony Village is a well-rounded team who has played a difficult schedule ...,î he said.
The Tigers managed three hits on the night. Senior Adam Best hit a double and Mackenzie Johnston notched a hit.
ìI am very proud of the way our kids batted and competed the entire game. They played with a lot of heart,î Schlagel said.
The Tigers finished the season 14-7 overall and 7-3 in the Great River Conference.
