Vikings lose in quarterfinals to Hibbing 6-5

The Vikings lost in the playoff quarterfinals May 30 against Hibbing by a score of 5-6.
Dominic Stahley was selected to the All-Conference team. D.J. Charley, Marty Savage and Tony Dahlberg were named All-Conference honorable mention. Savage was also selected as Academic All-Conference.
The Vikings finished the season with a record of 5-14 and 4-10 in the North Suburban conference.
Matt Warren led the team in batting average with a .375. Justin Novak led the team with 10 stolen bases. Stahley scored 21 runs and 10 RBIís for the Vikings this season.
For the season, head coach Steve Christenson said there were a lot of close games which could have gone either way.
ìThere were a handfulÝof games that were within reach with a clutch hit or key defensive play that could have changed the outcome,î he said.
Christenson said he hopes next years returners play a lot of summer baseball and return ready to play.
ìImprovement in skill level and bringing a competitive edge to each and every game next year will prove to beÝinvaluable to this team,î he said.
