Vikings glory road dead ends against Rogers
By Steve Morris
The North Branch girlsí basketball team started their section championship game slow and were never able to recover.
On Mar. 10 the Vikings fell to Rogers 59-43 in Osseo.
The Vikings scored eight points in the first half to Rogers 25. In the second half the fought back and outscored Rogers by one point, but it was to little to late.
ìIt just came down to us shooting the basketball so poorly in the first half,î head Vikings coach Dan Schindler said.
ìIt would have been easy for this team to quite at halftime, but I knew the team would go out and give everything they had.î Schindler said.
Junior Gabrielle Olson led the team in scoring with 12 points. She also had dished out seven assists and five steals.
Senior Marlayna Graff added 10 rebounds in the season ending loss.
The win gave Rogers the section championship and opportunity to play in the state Tournament. Rogers plays Benidle-St. Margaretís in the quarterfinals March 15.
For the sixth time in the last seven years, the Vikings have finished the season with 20 or more wins.
ìNext season should be fun as we have most of our team returning,î Schindler said.
