Minnco raises over $6,000

Minnco Credit Union recently raised over $6,000 for Credit Unions for Kids and the Childrenís Miracle Network. For several weeks in January and February, employees at Minncoís four offices sold hearts to Minnco members during the annual Chain of Hearts fundraiser for Gillette Childrenís Specialty Healthcare. The Cub Foods (formerly County Market) office sold over $4,000 worth of hearts by itself. To put that in perspective, this small but highly motivated office of eight would have bested the efforts of last yearís winner for the top fundraising credit union in the state of Minnesota! When every inch of the officeís walls and ceiling were completely covered, the staff began using the grocery storeís walls. When they began running out of hearts, they printed off more, including ìjumbo-sizedî hearts, which they sold for a $20 donation. Leading the credit unionís effort were three individuals who each raised over $1,000 for this worthy cause: Chrissy Picotte, Judy Arrowood and Diane Lombard.
ìThe event was a tremendous success, and we want to thank our members for their involvement,î said Steve Strom, Cub Foods Branch Manager. ìMany local children benefit from specialized services at Gillette, so the Chain of Hearts campaign directly contributes to programs that provide care for kids right here in our area. Weíd also like to thank the employees of the grocery store, who raised an additional $480 for the kids.î
Credit Unions for Kids is a collaboration of credit unions, chapters, and leagues engaged in fundraising activities to benefit Childrenís Miracle Network-affiliate hospitals. All money raised through Minnesotaís Credit Unions for Kids program supports Gillette Childrenís Specialty Healthcare, helping kids with disabilities and chronic conditions.
