A group of Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) members will travel to the 2006 National Farmers Union Convention using farm-based fuels like biodiesel. The theme for this yearís convention is ìFuels from the Farm: Our Nationís Future.î
The National Farmers Union (NFU) Convention runs March 3-6 in Denver, Colorado. The Minnesota bus will leave St. Paul on March 2, and return on March 8.The Farmers Union group will include five Minnesota delegates who will concentrate on developing the farm groupís annual policy and legislative agenda.
ìMinnesota has led the way on farm-based fuels, so I know our members will take a leading role at this convention,î said Peterson. ìFarmers from other states often ask us how Minnesota developed the strongest ethanol and biodiesel laws in the nation.î
Peterson, who was author of the stateís ethanol mandate law while he was a state legislator, will lead a convention workshop on farm-based fuels.
Other Minnesotans will also be on the panel to discuss ethanol and biodiesel production and promotion.
