Meet the new sports editor
By Steve Morris
Ahhh...the good old fashion introduction. I only get one shot at this, so I better get this right. This is my chance to put in my two cents about myself and not have anyone interrupt me (except my editor). Itís not often I have complete control over my first impression to more than 2,300 people. As the new sports reporter for the Post Review, this is my vehicle for my official hello, handshake and smile to all the loyal fans of North Branch and Rush City athletics.
I am familiar with how small towns operate, so below is some gossip about the new kid on the block. I graduated in December from Minnesota State University Mankato, with a bachelor of arts degree in Mass Communication. At MSU I was involved in the Society of Professional Journalists, I worked as a community advisor and wrote for the campus paper, ěThe Reporter.î In college my sports experience included playing intramural sports and performing as MSUís mascot and in high school I was a three sport athlete. In the summer of 2005, I completed a sports internship at the Budgeteer News in Duluth, Minn.
Before I go on any further, I have a disclaimer. On this planet there happens to be another person with the same genes as me and I am not speaking Leviís here. My twin brother, aka dangerous Dave, may occasionally be in North Branch visiting his other half. If you see another person who shares the same physical appearance as me, hold your tongue because it may not be me.
When I am not spending my time being an imposter, I may be found reading, playing chess or watching the OíRielly Factor.
Of course I except comments, questions and constructive criticism with open arms about all my stories.
I am ardently looking forward to exciting spring sports schedule and to serving the local sports community. Thanks and see you at the game.
