On Friday, the Rush City girlís basketball team won the last home game of the season beating Isle, 51-35. It was the final home game for seniors Bobbi Cort, Becky Kemen, and Kacie Vold.

ìWe worked hard, we played well and we had fun,î Cort said. ìWe have a great chance in the playoffs.î

The win put the Tigers in 4th place in the conference. Cort finished the game with a team high 13 points and 11 rebounds. Vold was huge in the paint, notching 15 rebounds. The Tigers were patient on offense, passing the ball several times each possession before taking a high percentage shot. Albright said his seniors made all the difference.

ìIt was a great game for the seniors to celebrate their accomplishments in front of the home crowd for the last time,î Albright said. ìThese three seniors will probably never know what they have meant to both this program and to me as a coach.î

The Tigerís full court pressure forced Isle to make 16 turnovers which resulted in easy baskets for the Tigers.

At halftime, the Tigers had a 22-16 lead and never relented. The Tigers finished the season 9-13 and 8-6 in the conference.

ìIt was a good way to end our season,î Albright said.

On Tuesday Feb. 21, the Tigers lost to Maranatha Christian Academy 63-49 at home. Cort scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the loss. Junior Amber Hoffman added 16 points and 6 rebounds. Albright said they played well early but couldnít contend with the taller Maranatha squad.

ìWe had them early, until a couple breakdowns in our defense late in the first half let them get up by seven,î Albright said.

Maranatha Christian Academy had Jenna Higgins, a six foot three inch sophomore forward, who proved difficult for the Tigers. Despite their big player, Albright was happy with how his team handled the size difference.

ìI thought for the most part we handled their size better than in the past,î Albright said.

The Tigers were held to a 29 percent shooting from the floor.
