Rush City boys drop two games as playoffs near

The Rush City boyís basketball team lost in overtime 63-64 to Hinkley-Finlayson on Friday, Feb. 25. Jeff Jennings led the Tigers with 16 points and six steals. Andy Erickson tallied eight rebounds for the Tigers.
In the second half the biggest lead either team had was four points.
Rush City had a crucial defensive stop at the end of regulation to force overtime. In overtime, Hinckley stopped the Tigers with 11 seconds left to seal the victory. ìEach team had a big defensive stop,î head coach Gary Dreissig said.
The Tigers lost on the road to East Central Tuesday, Feb. 21, 83-61. The Tigers were led in scoring by Jake Bosman, who finished the game with 23 points. Bosman scored all but three of his points in the first half. Rush City shot 41 percent from behind the arc.
The tigers jumped out of the gates with a 9-0 early lead in the first half. East Central fought back to a 36 tie at halftime. Dreissig said his team did a good job on the boards. The Tigers out rebounded the taller Eagles 25-19.
ìOur rebounding was again a big plus,î he said.
In the second half East Central pulled away and didnít look back en route to the 22 point victory.
John Kirchberg added nine points and 4 assists for the Tigers.
The Tigers are 5-14. Subsection quarterfinals are Tuesday, March 14.
