to Dorothy Zimmerman

Parmly Senior Housing & Services honored Dorothy Zimmerman, Director of Social Services, with the 2005 Isabelle Lindgren award. This yearís presentation was at Parmlyís Fifth Annual Employee Recognition Dinner on Friday, February 10.
Each year since 1987, the Isabelle M. Lindgren Distinguished Service Award has been given to a Parmly employee for their outstanding, dedicated Christian service to the organization and who exemplifies our mission of serving the elderly. Beginning in 1919, the ìWilling Workers,î a group of dedicated women including Isabelle Lindgren, faithfully served and spent their entire lives caring for the elderly. They would have wholeheartedly chosen Dorothy for this award.
In her nomination letter, she is described as someone who ìpossesses a true understanding of what it means to meet the seniors she serves.î She is one of the first people that new Residents meet when they arrive at the Margaret S. Parmly Residence. Her welcoming and positive attitude assures them, along with their families, that they have made the right decision in making Parmly their home.
Dorothy has worked as a Social Worker at Parmly for fifteen years and recently accepted the position of Director for the department. In spite of her busy schedule, Dorothy is patient, possesses intuitive listening skills, is respectful of both Residents and employees and very willing to stop and help solve a problem. Bonnie Faber, LPN, and last yearís award recipient commented, ìI hope that Dorothy knows how grateful we are for her professionalism and compassion.î
According to Dorothy, ìBesides being surprised, I am extremely honored to have received this award. This is such a wonderful recognition and confirms what I have always feltóParmly is such a special place to work. I am very grateful.î
All of the staff at Parmly congratulates her for receiving this much deserved recognition.
