Tanger fights breast cancer

Visitors to the Tanger Outlet Center last fall did much more than just shop. Their outlet shopping trips to Tanger are helping to fight breast cancer here in North Branch. Tangerís annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign which took place Oct. 30 - Nov. 20 2005 raised $3,355.
The money raised during this yearís campaign will benefit the Fairview Lakes Health Services ñ Breast Cancer Care Program through the newly established Stanley K. Tanger Breast Cancer Fund.
This program will support patients who live in the area in cases where patients are not able to afford hormonal therapy, mammograms and annual schedule follow up therapy due to no insurance and financial issues.
ìWe are pleased to join Fairview Lakes Health services in our mutual goal to fight the terrible disease of breast cancer,î said Sharon Gallagher, manager of the Tanger Outlet Center.
ìThe generous support that we received from Tanger customers, our national retail partners and from Fairview Lakes Health Services helped make our campaign a big success. We must all remain committed to this fight until a cure for breast cancer is finally found,î she added.
Tangerís Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign now in its 12th year nationally, raised money through a variety of programs at the Tanger Outlet Center. On Oct. 8, Tanger donated 1 percent of the entire shopping centerís gross sales for the day to Fairview Lakes Health Services. In addition, money was raised through the sale of commemorative Breast Cancer Bracelets. Nationally, Tangerís efforts across the United States helped raise more than $450,000.
