12th annual Womenís Health Conference is March 23, 30

The 12th annual Womenís Health Conference is scheduled for Thursdays, March 23 and 30 at Hazelden.

The free womenís event, hosted by Chisago County Public Health, Fairview Lakes Health Services, Hazelden, St. Croix Regional Medical Center, and Polk County (Wisc.) Public Health, has become a community tradition. This year the conference invites women to take charge of their lives ñ mind, body and spirit.

As in the past, the free conference will be held at the Hazelden CORK Center in Center City. Pre-registration is not required.

Thursday, March 23, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Health screenings will include: blood pressure, blood glucose, DermaScan facial skin analysis, depression, heart risk assessment

Informational booths and demonstrations include:Ý

Self-defense by Chuck Philips, Kyoshin Ryu Academy

Methamphetamines by MADAM

Staying at Home

Exercise and physical activity

Quitting Tobacco ñ Chisago County Public Health

Nutrition by Hazelden

Menopause and osteoporosis information offered by Sue Flannigan, A.N.P., Fairview Chisago Lakes Clinic

Self-esteem by Hazelden

Stopping domestic violence by Polk County Public Health

Breast cancer early detection ñ Chisago County Public Health

Speakers are:

6:30-7:30 p.m.

ìMotorcycling through Menopause,î featuring Jean Cheeley and Dianne Grabowski who will share a unique bond of friendship, motorcycling, menopause and their funny and inspiring book.

7:45-8:45 p.m.

ìEmotional Eatingî presented by Pat Fettes, M.D., St. Croix Regional Medical Center.

The March 30 schedule will be printed next week.

To reach Hazelden take Highway 8 to Pleasant Valley Road (east of Center City) and watch for the signs.
