The Vikings baseball team committed four errors, giving up six earned runs in a 9-4 loss to Spring Lake Park May 2.

Spring Lake Park jumped ahead to a 7-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back.

Chris Becklin was on the mound and pitched the complete game, striking out three and giving up 14 hits.

ìSpring Lake Park did a very good job of hitting the ball where it was pitched; they used the whole field well,î head coach Steve Christenson said.

The conference loss puts the Vikings 1-6 in the North Suburban Conference. Dominic Stahley went two for three at the plate with a run and J.T. Lindholm also went two for three with two runs scored.

ìWe hit the ball hard a couple of times,î Christenson said.

The Vikings moved on with the loss and played Chisago Lakes under the lights May 4. However, late game errors cost the Vikings as they lost their seventh game in a row by a score of 7-3.

ìItís tough to look at a record that appears simply sub-par, but weíve had opportunities in most every game to either take a commanding lead, or take over the lead,î Christenson said.

Marty Savage went three for four at the plate.

ìMarty has been struggling to find some green,î Christenson said. ìHe has a great swing ...

Tony Dahlberg pitched the distance earning the loss. Dahlberg gave up nine hits, stuck out three and walked two.

Bob Levassuer was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats. Levassuer gave up 10 hits, three runs and two strike outs.

The Vikings ended a seven game losing streak with a win over Irondale May 8.

At home, the boys toppled the Knights for the second time this season. It was their second conference win of the season.

ìIt is good to finally get back into the win column,î Christenson said.

It was Stahleyís night, as he won the game on the mound and went three for four at the plate. He pitched five innings scattering four hits, three walks and two strike outs.

Heading into the fifth inning with a two run lead the Vikings scored five answered runs to put the game out of reach.

ìThese guys have been playing well enough to win more games than they have,î Christenson said.
