Shop on Main, better known as ěthe candy storeî recently celebrated its one-year anniversary by moving to new, bigger digs. Although Shop on Main will continue to have a main street address, it has moved west to the retail space between North Branch Floral and Video Vault.

A successful first year in business, and the need for space, drove the decision, said spokesperson and part owner Teri Lust. ěWe can display things much better here. It is far less crowded,î she said. Lust owns the store equally with her mother Emily Bianco and sister Kelly Zengerle.

One look inside the new storefront and the need for display area becomes obvious. Far from just a candy store, Shop on Main features a plethora of products ranging from clothing to one-of-a-kind gift ideas.

There is an area dedicated solely to custom screen printing, where patrons can design their own T-shirts and sweatshirts. Lust said Shop on Main can fill orders for team uniforms, work logo shirts, and theme clothing for high school seniors, family reunions, etc., or for individuals who just want something unique. ěHere you can pick out three shirts that you want. Or you can go to Wal-Mart and pick three shirts that everybody has,î stated Lust.

The new, larger space also allows Shop on Main more display area for its constantly changing inventory of gift ideas. A wide variety of accent pieces, home decor items, knick knacks, animal figurines, lamps and clocks are surprisingly inexpensive. The gift area also includes bath and body items, including brand names like Bee Bar and Fruit Frappe.

Shop on Main has no intention of discarding its roots though, and visitors will continue to find a large selection of nostalgic candies. Over 40 flavors of fresh saltwater taffy are displayed, along with other classics like rock candy and others. Canít decide? Shop on Main can also put together gift baskets containing many of its selections.

The larger space also gives Shop on Main the opportunity to expand its delectable offerings. Lust plans to remodel a back room to offer waffle cones, chocolate specialties, caramel corn and other treats, many of which will be made on site. Lust hopes to have this section of the store open by late June.

For those who canít make their way to Lustís North Branch storefront, Shop on Main also keeps a booth at the D & S flea market in Harris from early May to the end of September.

People looking for unique gifts, themed apparel, or just a classic lollipop will be well served by stopping in at Shop on Main, where Lust said, ěthe memories and the laughs are free.î

Shop on Main is located at 6118 Main St. in North Branch. For more information call (651) 277-0701.
