Kettle River pony show coming to Hinckley

Posted: 5/17/06

The Kettle River Invitational Pony Show May 20-21 at Rhino Arena in Hinckley, Minn. will be the first Registered Shetland Horse and American Show Pony show ever held in Minnesota. Between 50 and 100 ponies and their owners will come from around the upper Midwest and Canada to participate in the show.

ěPonies compete in almost all of the same show ring events that full-size horses do,î says Trace Anderson, show manager. ěThis is serious competition for the exhibitors but itís also a really fun event, and a great way to introduce children to the world of horses in an environment less intimidating than a full-size show.î

In addition to the action in the show ring, attendees can visit the horse stalls, talk to the adult and youth owners, ask questions and see how the ponies are prepared for the show ring. For the already-horse-inclined, there will be booths selling everything equine. Food and refreshments
will also be available on the arena grounds. Saturday open-
ing ceremonies are at 7:45 a.m.
with the stalls and arena building open until 8 p.m. both evenings.

The Kettle River Invitational is free with free parking close to the arena.
