Rangers four hits lift Vikings to win

For the second time of the year, the Vikings fell to Irondale.

On May 8, the Vikings fell to Irondale 5-9.

The Knights didnít waste any time getting a lead. In the first inning they scored four runs on four hits and an error against sophomore pitcher Steph Saxe. They added three more in the second to go ahead by seven. However, the Vikings didnít throw in the towel.

North Branch added four runs in the fourth and one in the fifth, but were unable to close the gap completely.

ěThe Knights tallied two more in the sixth and the Vikes couldnít come up with any more,î head coach Larry Brodin said.

Saxe pitched the distance going six innings and giving up 10 hits, four walks and five strike outs.

Maggie Johnson went two for four at the plate. Third baseman Danni Sonnenfeld had a double and and two RBIís.

Megan Ranger had the red-hot bat and led the Vikings to a 10-7 victory over St. Francis at home May 11.

Ranger went four for four with two doubles and three RBIís.

Tiffany Good collected her fifth win of the season, pitching seven innings, striking out two and walking one.

The Vikings scattered ten runs in four innings of play.

The Viking defense performed as it should late in the season, stopping a bases loaded threat from St. Francis in the fifth inning.

ěThe defense held and the Vikes came away with the win,î Brodin said.
