North Branch upsets Benilde-St Margaret

The Vikings made it two wins in a row, defeating conference leader Benilde-St. Margaret 4-2 at home May 10. The Vikings got on the scoreboard early with three runs in the first. The Vikings added one on the sixth to make it four.

ìThis was a great win for us over a very competitive team,î head coach Steve Christenson said.

Going into the game Benilde-St. Margaret had a 10-1 record. The teamís only loss was a 15-1 blowout against Totino-Grace April 27. Sophomore Tony Dahlberg was the winning pitcher. He pitched seven innings, gave up three hits, two runs and four strike outs. Christenson was pleased with his underclassmanís performance.

ìDahlberg gave us a great outing. He may have walked and hit more guys than he wanted to, but his defense were able to help him out.î

Dominic Stahley went two for four at the plate with a double and an RBI. DJ Charely also went one for three with a double.

Senior Matt Nelson of Benilde-St. Margaretís was the losing pitcher.
