A volunteer opportunity for the whole family

Child abuse is 100 percent preventable and respite provider volunteers are an important part of the solution.

Respite provider volunteers help children stay safe when their parents are overwhelmed by giving emergency care for children, ages 0-12, for up to 72-hours.

This unique volunteer opportunity is a great way for families to put their values into action. Volunteers are needed in Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Isanti, Ramsey and Wright counties.

Prospective respite provider volunteers should contact Erica Dolmar at Childrenís Home Society & Family Services (CHSFS) at (651) 255-2406 to learn how they can help prevent child abuse. Volunteers will receive extensive training.

Child Abuse Prevention programs (formally know as Crisis Nursery) at Childrenís Home Society & Family Services operate in seven Minnesota counties ñ Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Isanti, Ramsey and Wright ñ and offer a continuum of confidential services, including overnight respite care, 24-hour parent-support phone counseling, day and, in-home support visits, family care plans, parent support networking and befriender/mentor programs. To learn more call (651) 646-7771.
