Posted: 5/24/06

This is the summer to Catch the Beat at your library. The North Branch Area Library will be hoppin and boppin this summer. This music-themed program encourages kids to
read during the summer months.

The artist for this yearís summer program is Minnesota illustrator Stephen Gammell. Gammell has illustrated numerous childrenís books including ìThe Relatives Came,î ìTimothy Cox Will Not Change His Socks,î ìMonster Mamaî and ìOld Black Fly.î

On Monday, June 12 at 10 a.m., kids and parents are invited to ìcatch the beatî at the opening program by Wendyís Wiggle Jiggle & Jam.

Wendy does a great one-woman show and is a real crowd pleaser. She has been performing as a singer and storyteller for the past 12 years.

Free tickets for the one performance will be available at the North Branch Area Library
beginning Tuesday, May 30. Due to the fire code, space is limited.

Each child will receive a reading record and children may earn incentives as they record time read throughout the summer.

So remember to hop and bop on over to the North Branch Area Library and Catch the Beat this summer. The Summer Reading Program runs June 12 - July 31.
