Aitkin gives RC second consecutive loss; streak ends against Isle

By Steve Morris

Highlights were nonexistent as the Rush City baseball team lost its second consecutive game.

Aitkin defeated the Tigers 3-1 at Andy Selfaloka Field in Rush City April 25.

Bob Schlagel, head coach of the Tigers, had this to say about the game.

ìWe had our chances every
inning, but nobody could deliver when we needed it.î

Junior Josh Ehrreich went two for three on the night. Jake Bosman went two for four.

Bosman pitched the complete game scattering three hits, four walks and 10 strikeouts.

ì[Bosman] pitched very well but didnít get much help defensively or offensively,î Schlagel said.

The Tigers committed three errors for the outing.

Rush City was able to get runners on base, but couldnít get them across the plate. On the game they left 14 runners on base. When that happens, Schlagel said, you wonít win many games.

The Tigers were patient at the plate; nine players reached on walks.

Nick Behrendt scored the only run for the Tigers in the second off an Aitkin error.

With two losses in a row, the Tigers were hungry for a win.

On April 27 they ate Isle for a 4:30 dinner as they beat the Huskies by eleven runs to end their two game slide.

ì[The] kids played well in all phases of the game,î Schlagel said.

The Tigers landed their knockout punch in the third inning scoring six runs on five consecutive hits.

Ehrreich had two hits and batted in two runs. Senior pitcher Adam Best had four hits, including a double and two runs batted in. Senior Zach Beck also had two hits and two RBIís. The team had 12 hits on the day.

ìIt was nice to see us hit the ball hard,î Schlagel said.

Senior Noah Reichert pitched the win giving up five hits, walking none and striking out seven.
