190 Rush Lake area customers affected by todayís gas line hit

Around 8:30 a.m. today, Friday, May 5, a natural gas line was damaged by a contractor in the Rush Lake area. The natural gas line that was hit had been flagged and exposed but was broken by a contractor who was doing a directional bore under the road, explained Ann Carlon, spokeswoman for Aquila.

Aquila crews went door to door to turn off gas meters affected by the line hit.

It affects about 190 customers in the Rush Lake area west of Rush City. There is no danger and the fire department in Rush City has been notified.Ý

Crews from Northern Pipeline have been sent to fix the 3î plastic line. It is expected to be completed by 1 p.m. today.

Following the repair, Aquila crews will re-light all homes and place notices on doors. This should be complete by the end of the day today.

Carlon said crews from Pine City, Rosemount and Rochester have been sent to re-light the homes once the line is been fixed. If people are home, the re-lighting should be done by around 6 p.m., otherwise by the end of the day.
