NB knocks off Milaca and Mora on journey to final four

The North Branch volleyball team won its subsection game 3-0 against Milaca on Oct. 25 at home.

The Vikings played well, behind the sturdy play of their seniors Megan Ranger, Kacie Ramberg, Randi Zentner and Tess Prouty-Kunshier.

ìWe could not look past Milaca, head coach Kari Francis said. ìTheir coach was going to have them ready to play.î

North Branch, the No. 3 seed, had some long rallies with the Wolves. In the end, it was the home court advantage that gave them an edge and a good first round win.

ìPlayoffs are when you have got to take what you have learned the entire season and put it all together for the second half of the season,î Francis said.

For their quarterfinal match up, the Vikings didnít skip a beat, and won a close 5 match game against Mora Oct. 27.

The Vikings lost to Mora Oct. 17, but won when it matters the most.

ìWe knew that if we got another chance to play them, it was going to be a close match, Francis said.

The game was tight all the way, with the Vikings pulling away in the fifth match.

ìWe had some great individual play out of everyone at some point in the match.î

The Vikings played Hibbing, the No. 1 seed in the section, on Oct. 31. Look for results in next weeks edition of the Post Review.
