RC suffers season ending blow

The Rush City volleyball team lost in the quarterfinals of the section playoffs to the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers in five matches on Oct. 25. The loss ended the Tigers season.
Rush City lost in five hard-fought battles 2-3. The Tigers lost a couple of girls to injury but played hard all night, head coach Eric Telander said.
Tomi Schellbach was 30-32 serving with four aces and three kills. Megan Drevecky had 35 set assists and five ace serves. In her last high school volleyball game, senior Bethany Peters went 11-11 serving with an ace and eight kills.
Rush City finished the season 0-8 in the Great River Conference and 3-19 overall.
ìI was happy the way everyone stepped up for the challenge,î Telander said. ìIt was a tough way to end the season, losing a five match game ñ we should have won.î
