James A. Norris

James Arnold Norris, the son of Walter and Martha (Bronkema) Norris, was born January 5, 1922 at their home on the St. Croix River in Pine County, Minn. He grew up there and attended Seymour St. Croix School for eight years.

On August 29, 1942 he married Marie Webber, and to this union Eugene, James, Wayne, and Marilee were born.

As a young man, James served two years with the Civilian Conservation Corps. Later he worked in the Twin Cities for two years before beginning a 40-year career of service at Amber Milling in Rush City. He retired from there at age 62.

He married Dorothy in July of 2001.

James enjoyed living in the country, hunting, camping, and fishing. He also enjoyed going to the casino.

James died at his home in Rushseba Township, Chisago County, Minnesota on November 13, 2006, having reached the age of 84 years. He is survived by his children Eugene (Monica) Norris of Lakeview, AR, James Norris (Barb Wilke) of Zimmerman, Minn., Wayne Norris (Dori Wicklund) of Rush City, Marilee Norris (Duane Nagorsky) of Blaine, Minn.; grandchildren: Jodee (Rick) Ales, Curtis Norris, and Michael (Sarah) Norris; great grandchildren: Jordan, Taylor, Cassie, Britney, Stepheney, Piper, and Dominic; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Kasprowicz of Mora, MN, and Dolores Webber of Cleveland, ND; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Martha Norris, his first wife Marie and his second wife Dorothy, granddaughter Jill Norris, half-sisters Bernice and Bessie, and half-brothers Eugene and Henry.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City with the Reverend Xavier Thelakkatt presiding.

Music for the service was provided by organist Nancy Sterk and soloist Steve Yurick. Honorary casket bearers were Bill Dean, Rollie Noyes, and Mike Zmuda. Casket bearers were Michael Norris, Curtis Norris, Joel Swedeen, Patrick Washburn, Michael Kasprowicz, and Chris Wilke.

Interment was at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rush City. Arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service, Olson Chapel, Rush City, Minnesota.
