Naomi E. Brand

Naomi Eleanor Brand, 88, of Minnetonka, formerly of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at her home at Emerald Crest in Minnetonka.

She was born December 11, 1917 in Bristow, Iowa to George and Lenetta (Otto) Wescott. She grew up in and around Northwood, Iowa and attended school there as well.

In 1933 at the age of 16 she was united in marriage to Arthur J. Brand in Iowa. They made their home in Northern Iowa and Southern Minnesota where they raised their two children Arthur Jr. and Kay. They farmed for a short

time before they both began working at the Hormel Plant. They would later move to Moundsview. Naomi and Art worked at Honeywell for many years from which they both retired. After retiring, the couple moved to Pine Village in Cambridge, and would also live in Princeton for a short time before returning to Pine Village. Art passed away in February 1998 and Naomi would soon move to Ashland Place in Cambridge. Naomi lived at Ashland Place for a number of years before moving to Spring Lake Park. The past four years she was a resident at Emerald Crest in Minnetonka.

Naomi was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, sewing, gardening, doing crafts, selling Avon, and especially spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur Sr., son Arthur Jr., daughter Kay Witte, and brother Bud Wescott.

Naomi is survived by son-in-law Gene Witte of Blaine, daughter-in-law Bev Brand of Coon Rapids, grandchildren Kelly and husband Jon Rausch of Minnetonka, Toni and husband Brett Stenberg of Excelsior, Wade and wife

Trudy Witte of Dexter, MI, Jason and wife Val Witte of Blaine, 9 great-grandchildren, sister Priscilla and husband Glenn Barthleman of MI, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 11a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rev. John Roberts officiating. Organist will be Dorcie Larson and Leah Volker will sing ìOn Eagleís Wingsî and ìAmazing Grace.î Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Jason Witte, Wade Witte, Jon Rausch, and Brett Stenberg. Interment will be in the Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimerís Association.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge.
