The Nov. 1 Chisago County Board meeting began with a proclamation declaring Nov. 13 as Cpl. Johnathan Benson Day in Chisago County. Cpl. Benson is the North Branch Marine who died from wounds received while in his second tour of duty in Iraq. His family was on hand to receive the framed proclamation from county board chairman Mike Robinson. The proclamation noted Bensonís strong faith in the Lord and his ultimate sacrifice. The date, Nov. 13, was chosen to honor Benson as it was his birthday. The proclamation ends with these words: ìWe respectfully request that you remember him when you sing the National Anthem, when you say the Pledge of Allegiance and also, when his birthday comes each November 13th.î
