Lakeville tournament tests NB volleyball
![]() North Branch players stand in front of the net with their hands up ready to defend. The Vikings are 6-2 in the North Suburban Conference and 14-8 overall. |
The Viking volleyball team plowed through St. Francis, then lost to Spring Lake Park before playing top-grade competition at the Lakeville Tournament Oct. 7.
Against St. Francis, the girls lost the first match but kept their heads in the game and won the next three.
ìAfter the first game we regained our focus and started to take over the match.î head coach Kari Francis said. ìIt was another good conference win.î
Against Spring Lake Park the girls were challenged early and couldnít pull away with the win. Francis tried to fire up the team during time outs but it was to no avail.
ìTheir were a good team, but we did not take care of the ball on our side of the net. We made some mistakes that were uncharacteristic of how we have played the entire season,î Francis said.
Both games were a warm-up for the Lakeville tournament, which Francis said is one of the premier volleyball tournaments in the state.
The Vikings had a good showing but lost two of three games.
ìWe had our chances and lost some very close matches,î Francis said.
