Abby Faye Johnstonís attempt to bring her unresponsive four-week-old infant to the hospital ended tragically on the morning of Oct. 2, when the 21-year-old Rush City woman ran out of gas on southbound I-35.
Chisago County Sheriffís deputies arrived on the scene, administered CPR and gave oxygen to month old Dylan Skylar Johnston of Rush City. Johnston was ultimately transported to Fairview Medical Center in Wyoming by ambulance but was pronounced dead there.
According to Sheriff Todd Rivard, preliminary autopsy results showed the baby died as a result of ìslow suffocationî believed to have occurred while sleeping with his mother. The death has been ruled accidental.
