Montzka is not a quitter
TO THE EDITOR:
Remember the County Commissioner race of 1994? Thatís when then incumbent Commissioner Russell Goudge withdrew his name from the race-after winning the primary.
According to Goudge in his withdrawal letter dated 9/29/94 in The Forest Lake Times and Chisago County Press, he had become ìextremely frustratedî because the commissioners went ìbeyond a point he could support.î He also states that the percent he won by wasnít big enough to keep him in the race. ìI canít see compromising my principles on fiscal matters and continually sacrificing my personal life without greater support of the voters of this district.î
So, instead of fighting for our district - he just quit! Is this who we want as commissioner for our district?
In his letter for financial support dated 5/2/06, he states ìfor me there has always been a deep feeling of responsibility to our community and the people who live here. This combined with the knowledge of how important a County Commissioner can be to the cities and townships they represent. It has become clear that with developments at both the county and local level, we must have someone representing us with the ability to work cooperatively as a member of the Board, and when needed, stand up for citizens and governments of this District.î
I couldnít agree more, I have personally witnessed Commissioner Ben Montzka working tirelessly for our district, despite challenging situations. For me the choice is very clear ñ vote to re-elect Commissioner Montzka ñ heís not a quitter!
