Two Harris men die in Fish Lake crash
By Patrick Tepoorten
A collision between two vehicles at the intersection of County Road 10 and Elmcrest Ave. in Fish Lake Township has claimed the life of two Harris men. According to the Chisago County Sheriffís Office, one man died at the scene and the other was transported for medical treatment but was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The crash happened shortly after 8 p.m. on Sunday evening, Oct. 14, and occurred when a four-door sedan being driven northbound on Elmcrest Ave. by Kirk Anthony Davidson, 31, of Harris, failed to stop at the marked intersection. Davidson entered the intersection and struck Roy Harold Asperheim, 69, also of Harris, broadside. Asperheim was driving a full size pick-up truck.
Asperheim is believed to have died almost instantly as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Davidson was transported to North Memorial by helicopter but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Minnesota State Patrol reconstructionist is responsible for the investigation and a blood draw was conducted on Davidson to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash. The results of the blood draw were not available at press time.
