Wal-Mart no way, says writer
TO THE EDITOR:
I about choked when I pulled my paper out of my mailbox and saw the headline ìwe want a wal-martî in bold print! I sure donít and know a whole lot who agree.
Why would we want a low paying commercial chain when what we really want is better paying jobs in our area? I have lived in the area for 29 years and I sure donít want it to become a suburb type mall area smothered in big box chain stores. And yes I do my grocery shopping in North Branch and yes I have raised a family on one income.
If you moved up here from the cities only to want it to become the cities please reconsider your living arrangements. These ìbigî stores were not here when you moved here. I am not opposed to growth but please donít complain about the taxes to support all these wonderful things you want. North branch needs to upgrade thanks to all the present growth and that will take time and money.
Poor planning has you bursting at the seams. If you agree, get to your council meetings and let them know. I gladly drive to Cambridge and Forest Lake, even Lino Lakes when I need to. It is what you do to enjoy aÝsmall town way of life.
