A 'Day of Remembrance'

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty called today, Sept. 11, five years since the infamous terrorist attack on New York City and Washington, D.C., a ìday of remembrance.î In keeping with the definition, elected officials, members of the National Guard and emergency response officials, gathered at the Capitol rotunda to remember the thousands of Americans killed five years ago. Pawlenty spoke of a reaffirmation of the principles and values that have activated Americans in service of their country and others. In an impressive display of unity, outside the Capitol building fire departments from St. Paul and Minneapolis remembered the day by hanging an American flag between their department trucks.
