NB residents do well at Quarter Horse show in August
A fine quality of foundation-bred quarter horses came to the annul show sponsored by the Minnesota Foundation Quarter Horse Club on Aug. 27 in Lake Crystal.
Horses from surrounding states proved to be good competition against local horses. The judge was Deb Adams from Henderson, Neb. The event was an approved show by the Foundation Quarter Horse Registry of Colorado.
The show provided a wide variety of classes for working-type horses and the cattle classes provided the most enjoyment for exhibitors and spectators alike.
Horses were shown in cutting, cowhorse, handy ranch and sorting classes. Other classes offered were western pleasure, western riding, reining and several timed events. The performance classes were followed by the conformation halter classes.
High point performance horse was Cody Mo, a 10-year-old mare shown by Amy Niemi of North Branch and owned by Dawn Anderson of Rochester.
The youth high point award went to Annabel Bavage riding Holeys Cutter Belle owned by Jim Huddleston of North Branch.
Grand champion mare was Cody Mo. Reserve honors went to Classy Tuff Bar owned by Joe Lorentz of Mankato. Grand champion gelding was Power Trip Nic owned by David and Chris Olmanson and reserve went to Daddys Cool Kid owned by Jim Schlie of Faribault.
Grand champion stallion was Tec Great Dulce owned by Larry and Betty Butler. JMS Prom Royal Tee owned by Rick and Terri Brown was reserve champion.
