RC volleyball drops two of three at Pine City Invite

Rush City defeated Pine City 3-2 on the road to earns its first win of the fresh season.

Head coach Eric Telander said the girls played as a team all night. After losing the third set 8-25, the girls regained their focus and closed out the final two sets in true Rush City style.

ėThe girls showed a lot tonight about their character.î he said. ėThey never quit or got down on each other; they were a team tonight.î

Senior Bethany Peters served six aces. Junior Megan Drevecky had a great night serving, Telander said.

Later in the week, Rush City fell to Hinckley 3-0.

Jasirae Novak had five kills and Brittany Sheffer had three aces, one kill and two blocks.

To end the week, the girls played at the Pine City Invitational Sept. 9. The girls won their first game against Grantsburg, Wis., but fell to Pine City and Barnum.

Peters recorded eight kills and four aces. Sheffer notched 15 kills and six aces.

Up next, the Tigers host Braham on Sept. 14.
