Adults needed to work with Community Justice program
Are you looking for a meaningful way to spend your time? Make an impact in the lives of first-time adolescent offenders and their parents. The Youth Service Bureau has openings available for adult volunteers to work with the Community Justice Program.
Community Panel Volunteers serve on a panel with other volunteers and talk with first-time offenders about what the juvenile did and how it impacts the victim, the juvenile and the community.
The main goal of this program is to help the juvenile recognize that his or her actions hurt many people and have a high cost to the community. It is the hope that once adolescents understand this, they will not commit additional crimes.
A screening process has been developed for all potential volunteers. Human service education or experience is not necessary. Training and support provided, all you need is a concern for youth and families.
This volunteer position requires one to two evenings per month and meets Monday nights from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m.
