Rush City remains undefeated
By Steve Morris
The Tigers defeated conference foe Onamia Sept. 15 at home for their third consecutive win of the year ñ the final score was 15-0.
Head coach Gary Wendorf credits the teamís strong defense for the win. This is the best start Wendorf has had since becoming coach six years ago.
ìOur defense played outstanding,î Wendorf said.
The Tiger defense held Onamia to two yards passing and 35 yards rushing for the game.
ìThe defense came into the game with the idea that they were going to stop them and thatís what they did,î Wendorf said.
The Rush City defense has not given up a point in its first three games.
Cole Karnick scored the first points of the game on a six-yard touchdown run.
At halftime, the Tigers were up 7-0.
Rush City managed a safety which added two more points to the board. Senior quarterback Jake Bosman ended the scoring for the Tigers with a one-yard touchdown run.
Rush City recorded 10 penalties equalling 90 yards. They had seven in the first half alone. Wendorf said eliminating penalties is a must and it will be something they focus on in preparation for their homecoming game against East Central.
ìThere were some crucial penalties when we were moving the ball,î he said.
On the ground, James Warfield had 19 carries for 65 yards. Karnick had 14 carries for 55 yards. The Tigers ran for 146 yards for the game.
In the air, Bosman went 4-18 for 71 yards.
