Stacy liquor business wrapped up Aug. 31
By Anne Thom
At a special meeting of the Stacy City Council Aug. 31, Brian Hachey, off-sale liquor operations manager was given responsibility for both the on-sale and off-sale liquor operations in the city. Attending the meeting were both Hachey and Human Resource Consultant to the city David Clark, along with Stacy City Attorney Peter Grundhoefer.
Most of the meeting was spent in discussion of pay grades and job descriptions indicating the council had already decided on making the change and all that was left to cover were the business formalities.
In the end the vote was in favor of restructuring the organizational chart of Stacy liquor operations. Hachey will assume responsibility for both on- and off-sale as the City Liquor Operations Manager. Along with Hacheyís recasting, the present assistant liquor store assistant manager Jen Foresman will be offered the job of assistant manager, with a change to lower pay but with the change also to the expectation of fewer hours. Stevens would be offered the position of assistant manager of the on sale operation also at a lower level of pay and with the expectation that she would have to work fewer hours. Councilmember Mel Aslakson made the motion to offer Stevens the job as incumbent as Councilmember Barbara Otterson said she didnít feel very good about cutting hours or pay for Stevens after Stevens has devoted approximately 18 years to the cityís liquor operations.
Both positions would then report to Hachey who would oversee operations, personnel, sales and marketing. Councilmember John Walz said ìWe are trying to get out of the day to day liquor operations.î
The motion was made to accept the new job description and Hachey in the position of Liquor Operations Manager and the restructuring of the present Assistant Manager positions at both the on and off sale locations. Voting no was Aslakson who wanted a closed meeting to discuss any legal issues surrounding the change, as he seemed uncomfortable with meeting in an emergency capacity. In the end the motion and the changes passed and Hachey can now institute the business changes the council hired him to make.
Neither Foresman nor Stevens were present at the meeting and there was discussion as to whether the offers would be accepted.
