TO THE EDITOR:

Does anyone have any idea what is happening at the old Green Acres site? The hospital is still there, occupied by a number of our less fortunate neighbors who sadly have become incapacitated as to require constant medical care. They are not there by choice.We have all heard of the deals made by a few members of our County and City government transferring ownership of the property and building a new facility on the sand lot behind Tanger Mall.

But, how many are aware that the new owners have gone ahead and conducted an aggressive deforestation program at the site? Are you also aware that this activity has been done without regard to the effect the noise and commotion has caused the patients?

What is the status of the cemetery located out there? I just heard from neighbors, who used to maintain the cemetery. They cannot find it! Has the cemetery also been mowed over along with the trees and the respect due to the patients in the hospital?

We were all told relocating Green Acres would be a good deal. A good deal for whom?ÝI challenge the ìdeal makersî to come forth with some honest answers to these questions.
