The Rush City boys and girls cross country teams ran in their first meet Aug. 28 in Milaca.
Senior Josh Dahl finished in 18th place with a time of 18:43.
Coach Kevin Smith said Dahl ran a good race. But Smith noted, Dahl must increase his endurance and lower his race pace to move up in the future.
Zach Johnson finished 67th out of 108 runners with a time of 20:23.
In his first cross country race Junior Zach Saumer ran a consistent race and finished with an excellent result, coach Smith said. Saumer finished with a time of 20:38.
On the girls team, senior Amber Hoffman finished with a time of 19:31, 59th out of 99 runners. Smith said freshman Laura Hestbeck ran an excellent race and made good use of her summer conditioning.
ěLaura will move into the varsity level with confidence as the season progresses,î he said.
Hestbeck finished with a time of 17:51.
(Due to a low number of runners this season, Rush City will not have team scores in most meets this fall.)
