Led by three touchdown passes by senior quarterback Jake Bosman, Rush City toppled Pine City 20-0 Aug. 31 at home.

Head coach Gary Wendorf said it was Rush Cityís first shutout in years. It was also the first time in more than 15 years the Tigers have played Pine City.

On the opening play of the first quarter, Bosman connected with senior wide receiver Jeff Jennings for a 66-yard touchdown. Coach Wendorf said they took advantage of a corner who was playing tight on a quick Jennings.

The Tigers did all their damage in the first half. Bosman completed his second touchdown pass of the night to senior Jeremy Marty on a 25-yard pass. The final touchdown pass went to Jennings for 50 yards.

On the night, Bosman threw for 205 for the game, connecting on 7-13 passes.

Running back James Warfield led the ground attack with 75 yards on 16 carries.

ìWe moved the ball pretty well,î Wendorf said.

Pine City did force the Tigers into six turnovers; intercepting two passes and recovering four fumbles. Wendorf said turnovers are something they will need to focus on this week in practice.

ìThatís something we need to work on,î Wendorf stressed.

Middle linebacker Jerred Nelson and defensive tackle Josh Beck anchored the defense.

On Nelson, Wendorf said,

ìHe was all over the field.î

Wendorf was happy with how his team played on opening night and the crowd in attendance supporting the team.

ìItís good to see fans out for the first game encouraging the kids,î he said.

Up next the Tigers play Ogilvie on the road.
