John Dennis Evans

John Dennis Evans was born on October 31, 1938 to Walter and Verna (Krohn) Evans in Minneapolis, Minn. He attended school in Hope, Arkansas where he graduated from high school in 1956. John served in the U.S. Army stateside from August 1957 to August 1959. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Baker on May 31, 1962 in South Dakota. The couple made their home in Eagle Lake and Minnetonka while John worked for the Tennant Company in Minneapolis. In 1968 they moved to the Mora area where John operated a dairy farm for several years. They later moved to the North Branch area where John was a truck driver starting in 1977. He enjoyed spending time with his family, drinking coffee with friends, gardening, camping and raising animals. He was a member of the local Lions Club and American Legion.

John died at his home in Rock Creek near Pine City on Monday, April 9, 2007 at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 9 days.

He is survived by his wife, Jan, 4 daughters Naomi (Punky) (Tom) Connolly of Holyoke, Minn., Natalie (Nonie) Evans of Rock Creek, Natrishia (Trishia) (Duane) Evans-Westlund of Stacy, and Nicole (Nicci) Evans of Cambridge, three grandchildren, Josh, Chris and Jake; one great-granddaughter, Madysen; six step grandchildren and one step great-grandchild; one brother Phil (Debbie) Evans of Canton, South Carolina; five sisters, Nancy (Bruce) Danielson of Pemerville, Ohio; Donna (Jim) Robinson of Arvada, Colorado; Linda (Judd) Anderson of Brooklyn Center; Marilyn Hull of Blackwell, Oklahoma and Lorraine (Frank) Steinart of St. Paul and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Peterson
Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca. Honorary casketbearer will be Jake Evans. Casketbearers will be Tom Connolly, Duane Westlund, Chris Hansen, Josh Hansen, Greg Stokholm and Bryan Kottschade. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home on Thursday.
