The Rush City boys track has been making some noise this season and has taken first place in all three of their meets thus far.

During the Tigerama April 17, the boys scored 187 points, good enough for a first-place finish. Pine City was in second with 129 points.

Individual first place finishers were: Jeremy Marty; 110 high hurdles, 300 hurdles, triple jump; Jeff Jennings 100 meter dash; Josh Dahl 1600, 800; Ben Cook discus.

On the relay side of things, the boys walked away with three first-place finishes. The 4x800, 4x100, and 4x400 all finished first.

Head coach Mike Vaughan said the seniors had a very strong performance.

"They received a lot of help from the underclassman," he said.

At the Ogilvie Speed Meet April 19, the boys took first place out of six teams.

The 4x100 relay and the 4x400 relay placed first at the meet.

Individual winners were: Jeremy Marty 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles; Ben Cook discus; Josh Dahl 800 run.

At the meet, the Tigers tried some different combinations and people at different events.

"It all seemed to work out in the end," Vaughan said.

GIRLS TRACK

At the Tigerama April 17, the girls finished in 4th place with 130 points.

The 4x800 relay and the 4x100 relay both took first. Laura Hestbeck took first in the mile and Alison Toering won the 300 hurdles.

"Our girls are beginning to gain strength in all events. We will need to continue to get stronger and hopefully peak come conference time," Vaughan said.

At the Ogilvie Speed Meet, the girls pieced together a third-place finish with 70 points.

Alison Toering took first place in the 300 hurdles.

The team was missing some key athletes but still had a solid showing, Vaughan said.
