Girls fall to Irondale in tie-breaker
The Viking girl golfer's kicked off the season with a 182-202 loss to Spring Lake Park at the National Youth Golf Center in Blaine April 16.
Megan Scherer and Amy Aho played steady golf, as expected, head coach Dave Ambers said. Jeni Farr, Kelsey Johnson and Hope Chenevert had low scores for the Vikes and helped the team keep the meet close.
"All three hit the ball well, but each had two or three big holes that inflated their totals," Ambers said.

On April 18 the Vikings lost 210-219 to St. Francis at The Ponds.
"We continue to get steady play from Scherer, Aho and Katie Foley. However, we need to get better play from the rest of the lineup. Hopefully, with the weather improving and a few days of practice on the schedule, we'll have time to work on some of the things that are causing us problems," Ambers said.

On April 10, the visiting Irondale Knights beat the Vikings 188-204 at North Branch Golf Course.
Aho's 48 was the team's best score. Scherer had five penalty strokes on number eight and had to take a 10. Other than that, she played a nice and clean round, Ambers said.
"As usual, Johnson has been struggling early in the season. However, today she played very well except for going in the water twice and giving away some strokes in a couple of bunkers. Those are things we can work on. She's starting to look more like a golfer. Jeni and Hope are still out of sync, but there's time to fix the swing problems they're experiencing," Ambers said.
