Fairview opens sports and orthopedic clinic
A new clinic for athletes and people with active lifestyles will open at Fairview Lakes Medical Center, 5200 Fairview Blvd.,Wyoming. The new Fairview Sports & Orthopedic Care Clinic provides comprehensive orthopedic and sports medicine care at one convenient location. The new clinic, which opens Aug. 20, is located on the first floor adjacent to the Specialty Clinic at the west end of the medical center's main atrium.
Fairview Sports & Orthopedic Care (FSOC) specializes in non-surgical evaluation and treatment of muscle, bone and joint problems. Services include orthopedic and sports medicine physician care, physical therapy, athletic training, fracture care, bracing and digital imaging. If surgery is required, surgical specialists and podiatrists are immediately available in nearby clinics at the medical center.
Kevin Ronneberg, M.D., a family medicine physician specially trained in sports medicine, sees patients in the new clinic where he is joined by certified athletic trainers and physical therapists. Bryan Gaffy, director, Fairview Sports & Orthopedic Care, explains, "Eighty percent of the joint and muscle problems we treat are not surgical in nature. Dr. Ronneberg specializes in caring for those types of injuries and can see patients the same day or next day. For added convenience, all FSOC services are offered at one convenient location."
Dr. Ronneberg, who has advanced training in treating muscle, bone and joint injuries, has offered sports medicine as part of his practice in the Family Medicine Clinic at Fairview Lakes Medical Center for a number of years. He says that the new clinic offers advantages to the patient, adding, "We wanted to create a clinic setting where - with one call and one visit - a patient can be directed to the right testing and to the right person to help address his or her needs."
The Fairview Sports & Orthopedic Care Clinic will coordinate complete musculoskeletal care and provide non-operative treatment and evaluation for medical problems related to athletic performance and musculoskeletal injuries and conditions of all types. Physical therapy and brace-fitting are available on site.
"Working with physical therapists and athletic trainers in our own clinics, we are able to provide prompt and effective care at the point of service," says Dr. Ronneberg. He adds that the clinic will work with patients to help them find the right surgeon when surgery is indicated.
"We focus on restoring a level of activity for that patient whether that person is an athlete or someone striving to return to their activities of daily living," Dr. Ronneberg said.
