The Chisago Lakes Triathlon is already more than three weeks past us, but for one local business, the benefits will last all year long.

Dr. Pete Wurdemann, owner of Wurdemann Chiropractic in North Branch, recruited more than 17 people to compete in the second annual triathlon. Four staff, and 13 patients trained for months for the event.

For many, it was their first triathlon and commitment toward better health. Johanna Puelston, a chiropractic assistant at the office, completed the race, but admitted she is glad to have it done. Although, she admits she would like to make it a tradition.

"If I could do it, anyone can," she said.

He was able to watch his patients grow from a sedentary lifestyle, to a more active, healthy lifestyle by training and having the goal of finishing the triathlon.

Dr. Wurdemann said he would like to make the Chisago Lakes Triathlon a tradition for him and his family.

Next years triathlon is 11 months away, yet Wurdemann is already setting his focus on it.

"My goal is to double the amount of people next year," he said.

Wurdemann said he wants people to live to their highest potential and for some, competing in a triathlon is one step toward that goal.

"I know for me, the triathlon impacted me in a positive way," Puelston said.
